More than 2,600 foreign investors naturalised in Turkey
According to the Ministry of Interior, the number of foreign investors who have been naturalised since last year’s new rule easing the conditions for obtaining citizenship has reached 2,611.
Together with family members, a total of 9,962 foreigners have been granted Turkish citizenship for investment since 19 September 2018.
Foreigners who invest USD 500,000 in Turkey, invest USD 500,000 in Turkish banks or buy USD 250,000 worth of real estate can obtain a residence permit or citizenship for life. The minimum level of investment required to apply for citizenship prior to the new rule was $2 million.
Iraqi investors topped the list of 327 naturalised people. They were followed by 250 Afghan investors. 170 Palestinians, 110 Egyptians, 66 Libyans, 44 Lebanese, 29 citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis, 29 Saudis, 28 Azeris, 26 Pakistanis, 24 Sudanese, 22 Russians, 21 Algerians and 19 US citizens who were also naturalised through the investment programme.
